ALICE THE BAND

ALICE's Story

While the Metal world has seen an unusually high number of new bands of late, one of those bands stands head and leather-studded shoulders above the rest. Hailing from the mild-mannered state of South Dakota, ALICE has slammed onto the Metal scene and taken the music world by storm. ALICE comes comprised of a group of musicians with pretty impressive credentials under their grommeted belts. Lead vocalist David Arngrim is a former member of WALKING AND BLEEDING and RAPTOR. Bassist Derek Dean is formerly of WRACKED. Drummer Mark Malloy left long-time band DREAMING IN BLACKNESS to join ALICE. Lead guitarist Jamie Goetz came to ALICE after his project DAMAGED DIAMONDS ended. And rhythm guitarist Jerrod Lee found his way into the band after his band, ICED EVIL, broke up.

Interviews

We sat down today in a Starbuck's and talked to The Knockabouts drummer, Chester Evans.

Luckily, Chesty, as they call him, sipping his lattè appeared to be in the mood to chat and chat he did.

Chesty: So, as I started to tell you guys, I started banging on the kitchen table, on Campbell Soup cans, full and empty both, and I guess I drove my mom crazy, but I think she saw something there.

Interviewer: What makes you say that, Chesty?

Chesty: I say that because when I was about ten, she brought home a drum set for me.

Awards

It was a magnificently Metal night for American rockers ALICE at the 13th Annual Legends Rock Awards as they took home seven of the night's top awards, including Best New Metal Band, best Rock Instrumental, and Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album Of The Year. The band also heated up the stage with two performances and a pyrotechnics display that had the audience on their feet.

ALICE are no strangers to walking away from awards shows with numerous statues. Earlier this year they surprised everyone by winning in the Hard Rock category for Best New Hard Rock Release and Heavy Metal Video of the Year at the Gods of Rock Awards in Los Angeles, the first time a Heavy Metal band has taken that honor.

David's Marriage

It's a sad day for the legions of devoted female fans of the heavy metal band ALICE, particularly those who have their hearts set on winning the affections of blonde Adonis lead vocalist David Arngrim. On Saturday afternoon David said "I do" to long-time girlfriend and band hairstylist, Jennifer Torrence. The couple have been dating for over two years and became engaged while vacationing in Bermuda last May. Many will recall the headlines regarding the nearly-botched proposal when David went down on one knee on the beach in preparation to pop the question, only to land squarely on a broken beer bottle half-buried in the sand. Arngrim had to be rushed to the hospital, where he received 11 stitches in his knee, and a "YES!" to his rather unorthodox proposal. The couple were married at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. And a couple of years later they celebrate their 5th year together. David choose to give her a memorable gift and took an inspiration from these listed wedding anniversaries gifts by year. But let's see how the wedding went.
